Introduction to Musculo-Skeletal Ultrasound
Advances in technology and the quality of ultra-sound imaging have increased the value and use of real-time ultrasound for musculoskeletal healthcare practitioners. This introductory one-day course will increase your understanding and practical application of diagnostic real-time ultrasound, and familiarise you with the challenges and skills involved in the use of this equipment.
You will be guided on physics and science of ultrasound, pathology case studies, regulation and practice, its' use as a diagnostic tool, and limitations. The course will be delivered by Mark Maybury, a highly experienced Extended Scope Chartered Physiotherapist and Lecturer. 
The training is aimed at developing basic clinical skills utilising diagnostic ultrasound and will include participants scanning of a range of musculosketal tissues.  The course will not qualify you to assess tissues and injuries using real-time ultrasouind as this takes much more extensive training and experience, although it will provide you with a much greater insight into its' use. A Certificate of Attendance will provided upon completion.


>Entry Requirements


You must be be at least 18 years old, and have experience in healthcare or related science. This course is ideal for those with limited scanning experience including sports therapists, phyisotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractics and other healthcare professionals.

The course will be delivered by:

  • Science of real-time ultrasound
  • Limitations and regulations
  • Safe use and probe skills
  • Optimising image and resolution
  • Tissue imagery and understanding
  • Scanning of identifying structures
  • Case Study Images and Discussion


> Course Structure


The course will run from 9.30am to 5.00pm and will be conducted in a relaxed and informative group learning environment. There will be a blend between expert tuition, an emphasis on practical demonstrations, student interaction and participation.


Course notes will be provided, and you will receive a Certificate of Attendance
